Diesel Electric Multiple Units.

All power cars on the ex-Southern region DEMUs have above floor mounted engines and all vehicles are equipped with buckeye couplings. They were all built at Eastleigh with the frames laid at Ashford. They are commonly known as 'Thumpers.'

Class 201/202 - Preserved 'Hastings' Unit.

Unit made up from 2 class 201 short-frame cars and 2 class 202 long-frame cars. 'Hastings' units had narrow bodies for use on the line between Tonbridge and Battle. This had restricted loading guage tunnels which were converted to single track operation in the 1980's allowing standard rolling stock to be used. The set also contains a Class 411 EMU trailer.

Unit number 201001. Cars in formation: 60000, 60501, 70262, 60529, 60118. Car 60000 is named 'Hastings', and the unit is in Southern Region Green.

Class 205/0 - 3H.

Units are: 205001, 205009, 205012, 205018, 205023 (2-car stored at Eastleigh), 205024, 205025, 205028, 205032 and 205033. Based at Selhurst near Croydon.

Class 205/1 - 3H.

One unit: 205205 with cars 60110, 71634, 60810.

Class 207/0 - 2D.

One unit left - 207017 with cars 60142 and 60916. Plus spare cars 60135, 60616 and 60138.

Class 207/1 -3D.

Units are: 207201, 207202 and 207203. All based at Selhurst.
