Sub Class 47/0.

Built with train heating boiler, RA 6, and a maximum Speed of 75 mph. Class members 47004 to 47299.

Sub Class 47/3.

Built without train heat (except 47300), equipped with slow speed control, RA 6 and Maximum speed of 75 mph. Class members 47300 to 47379 and 47981.

Sub Class 47/4.

Equipped with train heating, RA 6 and a maximum speed of 95 mph. Class members 47462 to 47640 and 47798 to 47976.

Sub Class 47/6.

Fitted with high phosphorus brake blocks, RA 6 and a maximum speed of 75 mph. One member 47676.

Sub Class 47/7.

47701 to 47717 are fitted with an older form of TDM, RA 6, twin fuel tanks and a maximum speed of 95 mph.

47721 to 47793 are Railnet dedicated locomotives. Fitted with twin fuel tanks, RCH jumper cables for operating with propelling control vehicles (PCVs). RA 6 and a maximum speed of 95 mph.

Class 47 Photographs.

A 47 runs light through Ealing Broadway (West London) as an unidentified class 59 shunts some stone wagons.	A shot of the turntable at Old Oak Common (West London), showing several unidentified Class 47s. The date was the 29th March 1992.
47004, 47049, 47105, 47108, 47366 and 56050 stabled at Swindon on the 12th December 1992.	47085, 47286, 47125, 47144, 47214 and 31407 at Saltley (Birmingham) Locomotive Inspection Point on the 24th October 1992.
47217 heads a freightliner train through Eastleigh station on the 19th March 1992.	47218 stands between duties at Eastleigh on the 19th March 1992. This locomotive is called "United Transport Europe."
47220 hauls a Freightliner train through Southampton on the 18th March 1992. This locomotive has since been withdrawn.	A tatty looking 47303 at Cardiff Canton Depot on the 13th February 1993.
47305, 60062 and 47289 at Eastleigh on the 27th September 1992.	More Freight action in the form of 47350, again at Southampton on the 18th March 1992. This locomotive has since been rebuilt has a Class 57, number 57005.
Another shot of 47350 at Eastleigh this time on the 19th March 1992. This locomotive was painted in the old Large Logo livery with yellow cabs. It was unofficially called "Scorpion."	47366 (in Large Logo livery) leads 47108 and 47105 at Swindon on the 12th December 1992. Both of 47105 and 47108 have now been scrapped. 47366 is in Civil Engineers Livery and is stored unserviceable at Wigan Springs Branch.
Large Logo liveried 47426 at Reading on the 19th March 1992. This locomotive has now been withdrawn.	47433 pulls 47844 out of Bristol Bath Road depot (BR) on the 21st of February 1993. This loco has now been scrapped and awaited disposal at ABB Crewe Works. 47844 is now in the Virgin Livery and is assigned to Crewe Diesel Depot (CD).

This locomotive carried the name "Sunstar" when this picture was taken. This locomotive is now stored unserviceable at Crewe Diesel Depot.
47501 "Craftsman" stabled at Carlisle Station on the 7th November 1992.	47513 pulls 47523 at Bristol Bath Road on the 8th April 1992.
47543 front with scrap lines at Bristol Bath Road depot on the 28th November 1992. The scrap lines include 47509, 47527 and 47508.	An old photo of 47555 at Birmingham New Street. The date is around 1989. This locomotive was in the old InterCity livery and was called "The Commonwealth Spirit."
47569 with a mail train at Tonbridge (Kent) on the 7th May 1993. A 4-Cep (Class 411) Unit stands by the adjacent platform.	47574 with a mail train at Bristol on the 2nd February 1993.
47627 at Bristol Bath Road on the 8th April 1992.	Network Southeast Liveried 47701 stands in the siding at Salisbury station on the 22nd May 1993. This loco was named "Old Oak Common Traction and Maintenance Depot" when this photo was taken. The 47/7's took over the Waterloo to Exeter route after the withdrawal of the Class 50 (Hoovers) in 1992. These were then replaced by the Class 159 DMUs. 47701 is now at Tyesley Railway Museum (Birmingham).
This is the nameplate that was carried by 47701. It reads "Old Oak Common Traction & Rolling Stock Depot." 47004 carries this plate now.	47705 runs up the down line to the engine shed after pulling a London Waterloo to Exeter service. This picture was taken at Exeter St. Davids on the 29th January 1992.
A shot out of the carriage window has 47706 begins its journey to London Waterloo by climbing up the bank from Exeter St. Davids to Exeter Central. 29th January 1992.	After getting out at Exeter Central. 47706 waits to continue its journey to London Waterloo. 29th January 1992.
47707 heads to the engine shed at Exeter St. Davids. Date January 1992.	47709 at Exeter St. Davids with a London Waterloo train. Carriage is 5345. Date sometime in January 1992.
