Class 422 - Facelifted 4 Big (Phase 2/1).

• DTCsoL(A)-MBSO-TSRB-DTCsoL(B).
• Built 1966 and 1970 at York.
• Electrical equipment of 1963 type.
• Two Mark 6 motor bogies (MBSO) and B5 (Southern Region) bogies on trailer cars.
• Gangways throughout.
• Four EE507 traction motors of 185 kW.
• Dimensions of 19.75 x 2.82 m.
• Express stock with a maximum speed of 90 mph.

These units were reformed using Class 421 to ensure that all power cars have Mark 6 motor bogies. Unit Numbers are 2251/54-56/58-60/62. All are allocated to Brighton (BI). Others have been converted to Class 424 3 Cop units.
