Built between 1958 and 1963 at Ashford or Eastleigh works.
1957 type Electrical Equipment.
Two EE507 traction motors of 185 kW.
One Mark 4 (some Mark 3B) motor bogie (DMSOs), Commonwealth trailer bogies.
Gangwayed throughout.
Dimensions of 19.75 x 2.82 m.
Kent Coast Express Stock - maximum speed of 90 mph.

Refurbished and fitted with hopper ventilators, InterCity 70 seats and fluorescent lighting. These units are slowly being displaced to make way for the Class 365 Networker and Class 375 EMUs. Allocated to Fratton (FR), Ramsgate (RE), and Bournemouth (BM) depots. Some TSOLs have been used with Diesel Electric Multiple Units.

Numbers are 1507/9-12/17/19-20/27/30-39/41/43-44/47-51/53-57/59-66/68/70-78/80-82/84-95/97/99, 1602/7/9-19, and 1697-99. These last three have B5 (Southern Region) bogies.
