Class 304.

Class 304/1.

These units have a pair of narrow windows instead of wide windows and the MBSOs were refurbished with new seats and were formerly MBSs. Most of these units operated from Manchester Longsight (LG) and have since been withdrawn to make way for the Class 323 units.

Class 304/2.

This is the standard design with wide windows. These units also have been withdrawn from service.

Of the withdrawn units the following were last seen at Crewe Brook Sidings: 304003, 304008, 304021 and 304024. All other units have been broken up. If anyone can tell me if a unit has been preserved then please let me know.


Class 305/2.

4 Car units are: 305501, 305502, 305508, 305517 and 305519. All allocated to Glasgow Shields and in Regional Railways livery. The 3 car units are: 305503, 305506, 305507, 305515, 305516 and 305518. All stored unservicable at Longsight Manchester (LG) except 305518. The stored units are in Greater Manchester PTE livery whilst the remaining vehicle in service is in Regional Railways livery. Most of the Manchester vehicles have been replaced by Class 323 units.

Unit 305403 was last seen stored at Manchester Longsight depot.


Class 304 and 305 Photographs.

305508 Edinburgh305508 at the East end of Edinburgh Waverley Station. The date the 8th November 1992. 305525 at Chingford305525 at Chingford Station Stabling Point on the 4th April 1993. This unit has since been withdrawn from service.
